CONCRETE REPAIR & TOLL BOOTH REPLACEMENT WORK CONTINUES AT BAY BRIDGE TOLL PLAZA

Toll Lanes #4-6 Will Close 24/7 For Work

WHAT: Toll lanes 4-6 and the associated toll booths at the Bay Bridge toll plaza (eastbound US 50) will be continuously (24/7) closed and toll booth lanes 7-8 will reopen to traffic.  Motorists should use the remaining open toll lanes and booths to the left and right of toll lanes 4-6.  Trucks should use the three right toll lanes.  Pay attention to overhead and portable electronic signs.

During this stage, all daytime lane closures on the eastbound span will have toll lanes 1-3 directed onto the westbound bridge in contra-flow traffic.  Toll lanes 7 -11 will be directed onto the eastbound span in the open eastbound lane.

WHEN: Sunday, Jan. 4, from 9 p.m. and continuing for approximately eight weeks.  Toll lanes 4-6 will close and toll lanes 7-8 will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5.

WHY: Toll Dollars At Work.  The toll booth lane closures are part of two Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) projects.  One is the $4.5 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete pavement on the approach to the Bay Bridge toll plaza along eastbound US 50.  The second is the $4.8 million project to replace the toll booths at the Bay Bridge toll plaza.  Both projects are expected to be complete in spring 2015.

REMINDER: Headlights are required at all times on the bridge
