CONCRETE REPAIR & TOLL BOOTH REPLACEMENT WORK CONTINUES AT BAY BRIDGE TOLL PLAZA
Toll Lanes # 6-8 Will Close 24/7 For Work
WHAT: Toll lanes 6-8 and the associated toll booths at the Bay Bridge toll plaza (eastbound US 50) will be continuously (24/7) closed and toll booth lanes 9-11 (the three right lanes) will reopen to traffic. The detour for truck permit loads will be over with the opening of toll lanes 9-11, and permit loads will use toll lane 11. Motorists should use the remaining open toll lanes and booths to the left and right of toll lanes 6-8. Trucks should use the three right toll lanes. Pay attention to overhead and portable electronic signs.
WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 9 p.m. and continuing for approximately eight weeks. Toll lanes 6-8 will remain closed. Toll lanes 9-11 will reopen by 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
WHY: Toll Dollars At Work. The toll booth lane closures are part of two Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) projects. One is the $4.5 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete pavement on the approach to the Bay Bridge toll plaza along eastbound US 50. The second is the $4.8 million project to replace the toll booths at the Bay Bridge toll plaza. Both projects are expected to be complete in spring 2015.
REMINDERS: Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 4, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span. Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lane 9 starting Nov. 19.
